In the north-east of the parish, on the site of a former mission church dedicated to St Barnabas the Apostle, St Barnabas Hall is a modern building owned by the parish and made available for the community.


      • Kitchen with cooker, refrigerator and a serving hatch into the Hall
      • Toilets, including one with access for those with disabilities
      • Parking for 10 cars and plenty of unrestricted street parking
      • The entrance provides full disabled and pushchair access.
      • Available for hire until 11.00pm Monday to Saturday and 7.00pm Sunday
      • Capacity: 80 seated and 100 standing

Suitable for most children’s and adults’ clubs and groups: community groups, dance groups, Keep Fit, martial arts, meetings, etc. St Barnabas Hall has a No Smoking Policy. Alcohol is allowed, but the Hall is not licensed for the sale of alcohol or for public entertainment. Current regular users include

      • Toddlers at St Barnabas;
      • the Dee School of Dance;
      • Rainbows and Brownies;
      • church groups;
      • self-defence, pilates and yoga.

Enfield Highway Community Centre

Available to hire for events, as well as for long-term lets

Situated adjacent to and immediately north of the church building and built on church land, the Enfield Highway Community Centre is operated and managed as a separate charity, and is available for events as well as for long-term hire. There are two spaces for hire:

  • a large hall for large events, parties and receptions, and
  • a smaller meeting room.

St James’s Parish Church is on the Hertford Road (A1010), about 12 mins from Southbury Overground station (right out of the station and left onto Hertford Rd) and Brimsdown rail station (left out of the station and left at the bottom of Green Street). London buses 121, 279 and 307 all stop across from the church.

Pop in for coffee

The church is open every Saturday between 10am and 12pm, so please feel free to come in for a cuppa and a chat or just to find some space in our busy world. One of our clergy is about for any enquiries or whatever is on your mind. Our tea and coffee are Fairly Traded.
