‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ [Philippians 4.6]

Welcome to St James’s Church

We’ve entered a new reality in our church.

This is the first time since the 13th century that public worship has been suspended in England, so you can well imagine that we are in extraordinary times.

There have been press reports giving the impression that people will be able to go into churches from Saturday 13 June for private prayer.  Some churches who are used to having their buildings regularly outside of worship, prayer and events might be keen to have their churches open once more.

The restrictions being placed on churches in order for buildings to be open—not to mention protocols regarding the supervision of visitors, as well as stringent procedures for cleaning the church between visits—make opening the building at the present not feasible for us.  We are striving to open up the building again once it is safe and prudent to do so, but not before.

(For a list of local Anglican parishes whose church buildings are open at given times for private prayer, please click here.)

But St James’s is still carrying on:

Worship and prayers everyday

Two Bible study groups every week

Get-togethers for social connectedness

Pastoral care for those in need
